The People of the Oak Forest

The People of the Oak Forest, also known as People of the Oak, Oaklanders, or simply Oakens, are a tight-knit community with no organized leadership, in which no player is below or above another.

The community currently inhabits a haphazardly-built skybase, however, it is rapidly expanding, with plans for settlement in the surface.

History

The People of the Oak Forest originally gathered in a location situated within or near the Oak Forest. Soon after, they decided to move into the treetops, where an ad hoc skybase was constructed.

Organization

The People of the Oak Forest are a largely non-stratified community, that is, there is no defined leadership, nor does one player hold more power and/or influence than another, and work tends to be equally distributed. Yet, it is noticeable that the most active, long-lived and skilled players in each profession are spearheading the development of the community.

Culture

The People of the Oak Forest do not display many distinct cultural characteristics, apart from their egalitarian, non-stratified society.

Banner

The People of the Oak Forest are primarily identified through the iconography of a stylized, monochromatic oak tree, represented by a flow pattern.

Economy

As of now, the community operates under a self-reliant subsistence economy. Due to the non-stratified nature of the People of the Oak Forest, most, if not all resources are shared and distributed among all players within the community, as this has proven to be a generally successful strategy for survival.

Division of Labor

As expected, each player within the community has chosen to dedicate itself to a specific activity, such as farming, mining, smithing, and building. Already, the community possesses approximately three to four proficient farmers, two miners, two blacksmiths, and one planning architect.

Naturally, other members of the community are occupying general roles, such as woodcutting, hunting, and scouting, while also providing assistance to others as needed.

Defense and Safety

The community possesses a small cohort of skilled and dedicated guardsmen who maintain constant vigilance. In addition, the collective has instituted a policy to prioritize the health and safety of its most long-lived and therefore highest level members.
