Fish Inn
A safe haven for weary travelers |
|
History
The Fish Inn was founded Session 1 by 47, 877, and 104. Meeting through happenstance and staying together due to a general need to survive, settlers gathered on a river next to a jungle to the North of the desert. The Fish Inn began as a sky base with a simple fishing hole. Early struggles for food and the constant dangers of mobs made for a slow start, including a nearly total collapse following a witch attack, but the founders persevered.
Following the crafting of the first beds, The Fish Inn began deploying suicide tactics to bring safety to the river. Through the brave sacrifice of the Expendables' many lives, the Inn began to expand. Unskilled newcomers were able to safely engage in more dangerous pursuits, gathering resources and fending off mobs, allowing others to begin building expertise.
As of session 3, The Fish Inn has begun efforts to expand across the river and begin establishing safe land. Prosperity continued through session 4 and 5, with iron armour being achieved, but started to stagnate. This was until a pair of cartographers from the Dwarven Republic passed through, granting the settlement, which had yet to train any healers, some blessed pumpkin pie, allowing members much greater freedom to travel.
At this point, discussions surrounding the future of Fish Inn were happening, and 47 left the settlement to see the lands around them, meeting up with Shallow Cove, as well as Sleepy Town and Riverhold, later the Twin Cities.
By session 6, Fish Inn had agreed to join the Ophelian League, and started the construction of the nether highways between Fish Inn, the Twin Cities, and Nautilus. Construction of an expansion to Cannabis Village were underway until the crusades put the project on hold, after which it was abandoned.
During the crusades, the Inn provided little interest to crusaders, with their base and members largely unscathed, although by this point the settlement was in decline, and saw little change or prosperity.
Economy
The Fish Inn maintains a roughly even split of the most basic classes, farmer, blacksmith, and builder, and maintains a basic food supply through fishing. Initially, food costs were kept low by death-resetting unskilled workers, but later 877 became a farmer, allowing for surplus of food.
The nearby jungle provided wood for early development, allowing for a blacksmith to be trained and ores to be mined.
After session 8, a majority of members had gone inactive, leaving only 4 active members. Due to the construction of the nether highways causing frequent deaths, only a healer and farmer remained, the latter of whom transitioned to builder later anyways, causing Fish Inn to be totally reliant on stockpiles, as well as Ophelian League members for food and resources.
Government
The Fish Inn holds no formal government, with decisions primarily made via general group consensus. Though more senior members are occasionally referred to for guidance, the group generally is in agreement on what is best for the Inn.
Foreign affairs
The Fish Inn allows safe passage and refuge for travelers and those seeking a fresh start. Directions to known nearby civilizations are given to those seeking to explore further or settle elsewhere.
Military
Fish Inn had no formal military, but at its peak members were provided iron armour and shields.
Culture
Fish Inn believed in helping fellow members of the server, and providing a safe space for anyone who respected the guests and keepers of the Inn. Despite being a part of the Ophelian League, Fish Inn wished to maintain neutrality in the event of outcasts, potentially providing a route for rehabilitation.
Banner
Fish Inn had no banner, nor identifying symbols.
