Miner

Miner is one of seven classes available to choose from in the CivLabs plugin.

A miner's main role is to mine ores that can be used by Blacksmiths to craft better tools, closely linking their abilities with those of Blacksmiths. Only high-level miners are able to mine better ores.

Class Interactions

The Miner is the first step in the process of improving gear. They mine ores of increasing value in tandem with their increasing level. The next step is the Blacksmith, who can turn the ores into tools and armor. The miner in turn requires improved pickaxes, which can be supplied by the Blacksmith in quantity. Therefore, the two classes often work hand in hand to benefit both.

Guide

IfThere are three key strategies for being a miner attemptsand each its own positives and negatives.

1. The most efficient way to gain exp is to mine adeepslate blockjust above bedrock. This is the most boring and mind numbing strategy. The reason this works is because even if you can't mine deepslate, it still gives 2xp which lets you level up very fast. However, you get very little iron in return for more diamonds. (Which you can't mine until level 5). Be aware of mobs in your strip mine. This leaves a higher-levellittle requirement, risk as during the blocknight won'tmobs dropcan butdig through walls to be prepared to run. The xp gain can vary at 1600xp an hour with a wooden pickaxe and no haste to 7680 xp with an iron pickaxe and haste 3.

2. The second most effective and arguably safest method to gain xp and actually gets the minermost willores stillis getwater XPmining. Using a boat over an ocean, scout out large caves and, using a door to breathe underwater, mine every type of ore you see. This type of mining is most the best method for mining early game before you shift to deepslate mining at level 4 once you have enough iron and copper. It yields from breaking4000 to 6000 xp an hour depending on luck and skill. Be wary of drowns since even though there are very few of them.

3. Caving is the block.most Miningfun largemethod quantitiesand, ofif deepslateyou appearsknow towhat you are doing late game and have a guardsman, might be the fastest waymethod to getgain minerdiamonds. XPThe earlyproblem on,is eventhe countless number of mobs. This can be lowered by only mining during the day but is still dangerous if theyou blockdon't doespay not dropattention.

Nevertheless, the minernumber willone still get the XP. This methodpiece of advice I can give is to avoid mining worksdiamonds foruntil allyou oreshave some form of any mining level, you will get the XP but the drop is not guaranteed.

Be careful underground, as mobs from nearby caves can and will break into your tunnel.

If near an ocean, using doors to mine in underwater caves works quite well early game.fortune.

*Note: If a miner attempts to mine a block of a higher-level requirement, the block will drop with a roughly 1/6 - 1/7 chance. Most likely due to an issue with the server plugin
