History

Session 1-2 (Pre-migration)

Originally, the settlement of Riverhold was a small, unnamed skybase, built next to the spawn desert, in the jungle. Due to spawn proximity, the civilization would expand to a population of around 30. With wool production still being impossible, as people died, the population thinned; however, the proximity to spawn allowed people to get back quickly. Fishing was the primary method of food production, with chickens being a secondary method in the later stages of the sky base. A revolutionary system, a stone brick tube to the seafloor, was created to begin mining. The proximity to the spawn allowed for random players to come around, which did contribute to the population, but allowed crime to become more prevalent. In the middle of session 2, a player in a leather tunic, wielding a stone sword, came into the skybase, and murdered the healer, the smith, and the builder. This crippled the skybase, stopping healing, stone tool production, and stone brick creation. At the same time, player 170 had respawned, and told the organizer of the then company of a great nation she was once a member of. She stayed for about 2 days and then left. The skybase continued to be the primary home of the "company", until 170 was contacted through a boat-borne scout and was asked to come guide the civilization through the waterways to the superior nation. Session 2 ended as the people of the "company" set up a temporary platform for their beds.

Session 3-4 (Post-migration)

Session 3 began on the platform, where the group quickly waited for the rest of their members to enter the world. As everyone showed up, they departed for Sleepytown. When they arrived, they were accepted with open arms into Sleepytown. As they arrived at sunset, they spent the night inside Sleepytown, being able to witness the technological advances they had made. When morning came, they ran off, swimming across the river that the civilization would be named after. With the leadership of 537, 48, and the builders, a skybase was established in about half a day. The entrance was made mob-proof, the ground was flattened, and the skybase above the entrance was created. A fishing platform, artisan building, tree farm, and the predecessors to a housing block and storeroom were made. The two nations were able to trade, allowing the newly created guild system to have beds for everyone. Fishing was again the primary way of making food, although some pork, mutton, and beef were often found due to the skybase being in the plains biome. An idea for a league of nations arose, and the organizers, representatives, and leaders of both Sleepytown and the newly coined Riverhold created the Ophelion League with Sleepytown. Soon, a representative was sent from Riverhold to find Nautilus, and he accidentally found Shallowcove. They quickly allied. Session 4 was mostly used as an expansion onto the ground. Another mining tube was constructed, as well as a surface mine. A bridge was constructed between Riverhold and Sleepytown, allowing for safer transportation between the two.

Economy

Riverhold's Economy is external. Free use for most items is available to citizens, often with class-specific restrictions. Trade with Sleepytown is frequent, often providing raw resources and building materials in return for armor, wool, and tools.

Government

Session 1-2

Riverhold's government was simple; it was a parody of a company system. Each job had a small workshop, named according to the work types, and the CEO was the leader.

Session 3-4

Sessions 3 and 4 allowed for some more concrete structure to be created. The company was transformed into a conglomerate of several guilds. Each class had a guild, except for the builders and smiths, who shared one guild named "The Artisan's Guild." Each guild had a head of guild. Each guild head acted as a leader, and the organizer was respected enough to keep everything coherent.

Foreign affairs

Riverhold is currently allied with Sleepytown, and Shallowcove. They are seeking an alliance with Nautilus, and with any other civilization that wants to ally.

Riverhold and Sleepytown are both the founding nations of the Ophelion League, a federation of nation states that seek to trade and live amongst one another peacefully.

Military

The Ophelion Leauge, and Riverhold by extention, has an "attack on one is an attack on all" policy. If one of the nation states is attacked, all of them will respond with force. However, if a nation inside the league attacks an external civilization, and they are counterattacked, this will not prompt a response.

Culture

Riverhold's morality system is Christian-based, as most of the members are from North America and Europe. Practicality is mostly preferred over formality, and the architecture reflects this. Although it may not be aesthetically pleasing or socially complex, Riverhold is based in reality and purpose.
