Sky Cult

The Sky Cult is a religion that was founded in Session 1 by Player 802. It began with a basis in Tengrism, an ancient real-life religion native to the Eurasian steppes. The Cult later evolved, merging with the Cult of 25 and the Skeleton Horse Cult to form the faith in its current state.

Teachings of the Sky Cult

The followers of the Cult believe that the gods, who reside in the skies, communicate with the mortal plane through the weather (including the clouds, sky color, and terrain). They do not believe that the gods have any single, unified plan for earth; instead, the gods pick certain groups to which they deliver messages. They hold that the Divine Court of the gods is in chaos due to ShotRush, the god of evil, having been sent to the Court after his death. This turn of events caused the world to overflow with mobs, death, and destruction, providing a theological reasoning for the collapse of the early  Dead Horse civilization in Session 1. The gods were later able to regain control over the world, although incompletely; they were able to deliver a message to their chosen people in the form of a skeleton horse (from which the civilization derives its name). The Cultists believe that the skeleton horse is a symbol of endurance – that even stripped of all you have to offer, you can still live another day to fight for what's right. Above all else, it is representative of their belief that they can communicate directly with their gods. They consider night to be a time of evil, as the gods appease ShotRush by releasing his mobs in order to maintain control during the day.

Communication with the Gods

Followers of the faith believe that to communicate with the gods one must be totally at peace, and remain in such a state for up to 6 hours in order to watch for divine messages. These usually take the form of some natural occurrence, and can include bees, cloud shapes, and positions of the stars (notably the southern diamond constellation by which they prefer to determine direction).
