Johnsmithism
Johnsmithism, or John-Smith-ism, is a religion that was founded by 294 "Smith Johnson" in Dead Horse during Session 4. It began as an early prototype form known as "Workism", eventually merging with 294's obsession with Trial 0's 663 "John Smith" to form the modern incarnation of the religion. The demonym for followers of the religion is Johnsmithite (or John-Smith-ite if you use alternative spelling).
History
Johnsmithism was founded in Dead Horse during Session 4 by Player 294. Initially known as Workism, the addition of a central figure of worship, that being a slightly mythological variant of Trial 0's Player 663, who went by the name of John Smith.
Beliefs
Followers of Johnsmithism believe that John Smith, whom they believe to reside within the hearts of all who follow him and in the very rocks of the world, is not omnipotent, but is omniscient and omnibenevolent. Johnsmithites also believe that work is sacred, which means that they traditionally have a very positive work ethic.
Followers of the religion believe that prayer can be conducted anywhere, however it is often believed by followers that you are more in tune with John Smith in a quarry or in a purpose-built church. Followers believe that anyone can commune with John Smith, but it has been the rhetoric of organised Johnsmithism led by 294 that ordained priests have a greater connection with John Smith, and that a quarry must be consecrated into a quarry-temple before its attunement is attained..
Holy Sites
The city of Dead Horse is the de facto holy city of Johnsmithism, and its central institutions and sites lie within the Little Berrywood district of the city. Sites of importance to Johnsmithites include the Smith Johnson Quarry Company's quarry due to its consecration as a quarry-temple and the First and Central Church of Johnsmithism which was built during Trial 6.
