Constitution of the Republic of Dead Horse

The Constitution of the Republic of Dead Horse

The Constitution of the Republic of Dead Horse is a political document outlining a governmental structure for the nation of Dead Horse, ratified in a Constitutional Convention during Session 5. It was promulgated by Player 802, and read aloud by him during the Convention, after which all present were invited to sign the in-game book in which it was written. It is significant as the first explicitly political document to be implemented during Trial 1, and is a testament to the dedication of the nation's citizens and leadership for its ratification.

A digital copy of the in-game book, known as Rad's Copy for the scribe who copied it, exists and is shown below. The following note was originally included with it:

I have attempted to the best of my ability to preserve the grammar and punctuation of the original, while fixing spelling mistakes and standardizing the spelling of Deadhorse. Although this copy does not capture every tiny nuance of the original, I believe it is close enough that it may be used for professional use.

This generated a debate over the proper spelling of the Republic's name; while the form "Dead Horse" is preferred in most other texts, including official communications and this wiki, Rad's Copy and a few other sources style it "Deadhorse" instead. Later, it was discovered that Player 864 had taken pictures of the entire document as it existed in-game, revealing that the format of the name was inconsistent even in the original. "DeadHorse," "Deadhorse," and "Dead Horse" are all used in the original constitution.

The signatories included:

  • 274
  • 698 (styled "xX_698_Xx")
  • 446
  • 864 (mistyped as 846, though footage of the Convention proves the identity of the signatory)
  • 983
  • 154
  • 335
  • 977
  • 552

Text of the Constitution of the Republic of Deadhorse (Rad's Copy)

Preamble

We, the people, citizens, and builders of the Republic of Deadhorse hereby declare that, our city, our nation, shall be an organized body of government, for the prosperity and stability for Deadhorse.

Section I: Rights

Every member of Deadhorse shall be entitled to the right to fair trial, freedom from discrimination on the basis of nation of origins, and freedom of freedom, as long as it doesn’t contradict with others’ freedoms.

Every member of Deadhorse is also entitled to freedom from mob raids and chaos from interfering with their lives, peace, and happiness. These rights guarantee the stability, peace, and prosperity of Deadhorse and her people.

Section II: Government

The government is to be composed of a council group of specialists in different roles who make major decisions, as well as a congress of common folk who vote on their decisions, who reside in an official building of government.

The government’s tasks are to be the following:

  1. To maintain peace and stability of the nation and its people
  2. To ensure the prosperity and further development of Deadhorse’s infrastructure and cities
  3. To protect Deadhorse from foreign invasions and maintain an army and reserve equipment for any possible attacks against our soil and people.

These roles of government ensure the stability of the nation, and the protection of it.

Section III: Culture and Religion

There is to be no singular faith forced upon by the government, although the government is to recognize the Cult of the Sky, and the teachings of the Skeleton Horse.

The culture of Deadhorse is to be no unified culture, with a variety of different peoples merging together to form one nation of ideas, building, and to be patron of the arts for all of the world.

With the mixing pot of cultures, our nation shall be great.

Section IV: Council

The Guild Heads who compose the council are decided upon by the members of that guild. These Guild Heads have an administrative and guidance role, creating plans and organizing their section of society.

The Guild Heads serve as representatives of Deadhorse in foreign affairs.

Guild Heads can be replaced at any time if the guild members decide. This change is made by calling a meeting session and finding voting on a new Guild Head, who must receive a 2/3 majority.

Major decisions are made in the presence of all members of Deadhorse. Consensus will attempt to be reached, otherwise the decision requires a 2/3 approval.

The council shall serve in what they deem the best interests of Deadhorse.
