Builder

Builder is one of seven classes available to choose from in the CivLabs plugin.

The builder's role is to build sturdy bases using the blocks that they can place and reinforce blocks so that hostile mobs cannot break in. They are the only class able to craft brick-type blocks, such as stone, mud, and regular bricks, that are indestructible by mobs. They also have the exclusive ability to craft some redstone blocks which could be used to make complex contraptions.

Unlocked Abilities

Explanation of abilities which are not in vanilla Minecraft.

All "brick" variants of blocks are by default indestructible by mobs (e.g. bricks, stone bricks, mud bricks).

Builders are able to 'reinforce' ANY block. All types of reinforcement will provide additional blast resistance to that block. The level of blast resistance is dependent on the material used to reinforce. 'Light' reinforcement, done by shift-clicking on a block with a copper ingot, will moderately reduce blast damage and 5x player mining time. 'Heavy' reinforcement, done by shift-clicking on a block with an iron ingot, will give that block complete blast resistance and 10x player mining time. Reinforced blocks also become fireproof and indestructible to mobs if they weren't already.

[List all unlocked abilities by level, even those mentioned previously, in bullet points. Can group similar unlocks in shorthand, e.g. iron tools and armor, though define what is counted in the shorthand at bottom of list.
If it is currently unknown at which level an ability is unlocked, list it under Unknown (?) ]

Class Interactions

Builders work really well alongside Miners, as miners are able to get large amounts of stone that can then be smelted and used by Builders. Builders can then use this stone to create safe places on the ground or underground, allowing miners to do work safely.

Builders can also work to help Guardsmen by creating safe places for them to fight mobs and gain XP, whether it's a safe wall to shoot the mobs from or a fully-fledged mob farm.

Guide

Builders are suggested to use tripwire hooks and string to grind experience early on, if no reliable food source is acquired. Tripwire hooks can be obtained from fishing drops.

As of session 1 of the second trial, tilling dirt with an hoe gives 1 XP. As such, one can very quickly reach level 1 Builder by crafting a few hoes and tilling all of the dirt they can find.
