Recommended Mods

On the CivLabs server, you are not required to use any mods. However, some are recommended to use, due to their function.

Recommended Mods:

This list is intended for use with the Fabric Modloader

These mods have been officially endorsed for use on the server. Simple Voice Chat in particular is highly recommended.
If a mod is not on the recommended or whitelisted mods lists it may be disallowed (even if it doesn't appear in the banned list): do not use it or ask a moderator about it first.

Mod Management

Fabric API (Required for most mods to work)
Cloth Config API (Config Screen API used by lots of mods)
Mod Menu (Adds a list of mods you have installed)
- Text Placeholder API (Required library)

Optimization

Sodium (Optimization mod)
Lithium (Another optimization mod)
Entity Culling (Optimizes entity loading)

Other

Simple Voice Chat - particularly recommended
- Sound Physics Remastered (Enhances your sound experience, works well with Simple Voice Chat)
JEI (Allows you to view items and their recipes)
LambDynamicLights (Handheld lights!)
Iris Shaders (The shader mod)
Distant Horizons (Increased view distance)

Replay Mod

There are specific rules concerning replay mod. In general, do not look at any of your recordings until the Trial concludes. However, if you wish to get a clip of something specific that may be acceptable. Always remember the moderators make the final call. You are only protected to use your clips until after the trial is over.

Disallowed (Banned) Mods:

If a mod is not on the lists above it may be disallowed: do not use them on the server or ask a moderator about it first.

There are 4 general guidelines that dictate if a mod is banned:

It's a hack or hacked client
It can tell you hidden statistics about another player
It is a map or a navigational tool, including anything with coordinates (this is meant to prevent out of server coordination)
It lets you do something that would be theoretically impossible for others
