Basic Formatting Explained

Now that you are aware of the purpose, it is a fitting next step, especially if you are wanting to make a post already, to get into the basic formatting, and advanced formatting. The basic formatting is divided into 2 main types, Text Formats, and Structuring Formats.

I. Text Formats: These essentially lay out the way you will use bold text, capitalization, and italics. These rules are highly based on real rules of the english language, which a few adapted for player efficiency:

  1. Capitalizing Letters: Letters should be capitalized when they are the first letter of the first word of a sentence, when they are a proper noun (especially player names), and the most forgotten, but important for adequate writing, the pronoun "I". Into in-universe referencing, special days, and concepts, should also be capitalized. Acronyms should also be capitalized, however, any words that are not acronyms cannot be fully capitalized (capitalized in every letter), since this would be perceived as caps-lock shouting, and seem disorganized.
  2. Italic Words: Words should be italicized (made Italic), when they are a reference to an ingame literary source, article, or book. No single letter in a larger word should be italicized, the entire word should be italicized. Since this is still a game, and we cannot expect players to always make extremely long books, words for literary references like ingame books, etc, should always be made italic, as opposed to the english standard quotation marks for short literature. This is a way to make the world more expansive, and smaller pieces of writing more appreciated. Words should also be italicized, when there is an emphasis on a certain word, but only when posting in-game literature in the Wiki. In regular articles about ideas, events, and other real event happenings that are not a player or group of players' specific own literature, words should not be italicized for emphasis.
  3. When to Make Words Bold: Words should be made bold when they are a non-literature reference to a geographic location. They can be oceans, seas, waterways, valleys, nations, towns, etc. This is to make the wiki be more connected, and place names be more used. Example: South Sea, Duckland.

II. Structuring Formats: These are much more simple, and are more around making posts seem clean. Formatting of the Structure is like this:

  1. When Making Lists: Roman Numerals should be the major list categories, like done in this guide. Numbered lists should be below Roman Numerals, as numbered lists are a subgroup of those. For an even smaller subgroup, are the bullet lists, which should be used below the numbered lists. Bullet Lists should also be used in non-order lists, describing ideas, concepts, etc, in a less strictly-organized way.
  2. Paragraph Structuring and Spaces: Each paragraph should be started by a separate idea, a following text group to an introduction, and just how paragraphs are structured in general, in standard english. It is important to not add random spaces, and to try to make the writing consistent. Random paragraphs should also not be present, and two very related sentences should not be separated into two paragraphs. This rule, however, can be altered, by making different paragraphs in order to avoid huge text walls. A huge text wall is considered 12 lines or more.
