Advanced Formatting Thoroughly Explained
I. References: These are essentially mentions of an in-game or in-wiki existing concept or post, as well as tags. Let's explore them:
- Safe references can be used by mentioning an in-wiki article using the linking tool in the top toolbar. They serve to make the in-game wiki and world more immersive, and make posts connected.
- Tags are essentially ways to describe content, and can be used when that tag fits the purpose, or topic, of the post being made. Rule tags should not be used by normal-player articles.
II. Shelve-Book-Chapter-Page Hierarchy: As the name already says, this is essentially the general hierarchy in which this wiki's organization levels are placed. These is how they are:
- Shelves: Shelves are used for associated books, made by the same player, or groups of players, as well as mods. Books should only be placed on shelves that they share a clear connection with, such as topic, same player-literature-author, etc. Shelves should be as specific as possible, and things like "Science Shelve" should not be a thing, as it is too general. Instead, try to specifically describe which type of science, in this case.
- Books: Books are each specific post, which then have chapters and pages inside. Books can be made or any specific, player-written (or mod) post, that is wished to talk about. They can be about Literature, in-game events, happenings, etc. Remember that upon making a book, it should be saved around the time the title is made, and then get into chapters and pages.
- Chapters: Chapters are each general division of a book. If a book is about ingame happenings in a certain era, Chapters could be specific topics, with each chapter having multiple happenings, or chapters being specific divisions of time, and then events inside those divisions of time or chapters be mentioned in each page. Chapters then have pages in them.
- Pages: Pages serve as the main place for information in long-form, and should be placed inside a chapter. They should be placed for being a division of a certain chapter, or, when text is too long, for reading convenience. Reading convenience is only an excuse (outside of mod writings), when there are over 50 empty or full lines. in a previous page, in such that a new one has to be made. When writing literature, this is in according to how the player wrote the book.
III: Player Documents: These are player made documents like literature, in-game nation and politics, or law documents of a specific group of players (Constitutions, etc). They work like this:
- Player Document Mentions: Player documents should be placed either as an adaptation of a separate document, placed in accordance to wiki formatting, or safe referenced. It is important to mention, either in title or description, when something is a player document, and is literature, an important document for an in-game state, etc
- Player Document Rule Following: Player documents should follow the same Wiki rules formatting guidelines when adapted to the Wiki, not when mentioning them by placing a reference, however, to a separate place. When being references they should still be appropiate and follow rules, however, strict formatting as seen in the Wiki is not needed when not placed in it.
