Sunfish Syndicate

The Sunfish Syndicate is a nation compromised of guilds.

Located East from Spawn, on the shores of the Void Sea, the Sunfish Syndicate built up a small but efficient homestead that incorporates buildings just above water level and on land, making it a shore-based nation.

History

Session 1
A relatively sizeable group of roughly 8 players travelled East from spawn. Once the group found land flush with vegetation and not covered in sand, they proceeded to chop down trees, start small patches of farms and begun the construction of a small platform, 1 block above the water, with a trapdoor staircase leading up to it. The rest of the night was spent fishing and expanding the platform. Once monsters had spawned the 1 block gap between water and "sky"base proved to be detrimental, as swimming mobs could break blocks from underneath the players. Once higher up platforms had been constructed the majority of players spent the night fishing, during which the first mention of this nation's name was made: Sunfish. The group was subsequently named "The Sunfish".
While fishing a Power 3, Unbreaking 3 and Infinity bow was reeled in by a fisherman. This bow proved useful in the defence of the surrounding farmland, usually killing mobs in one shot.
Due to the large amount of new players joining, the dangers of mobs causing many to perish and the overall unorganised nature of The Sunfish, progress was slow, resulting in them not having any player with substantial levels in any class. Food production was also a problem, as it largely depended on the fishermen and fishing rods.

Session 2
The players 628, 796 and 917 worked together to ease communication by introducing guilds and the representative system (628), making a job board with specific tasks for each of the classes and how many of each class are definitely necessary to progress (796), and making a board for players to enter their number into one of the classes (917). These basics were improved upon, resulting in the organised nature of the Sunfish Syndicate's current government.
Construction of the first mainland wall had begun, attempting to surround the farms, mine entrance, and some empty land to keep farmers and miners safe during the night. The two builders 720 and 796 built the wall 2 blocks high and from stone bricks.
The nation's name was changed to "The Sunfish Union".

Session 3
At the beginning of session 3 issues in the nation started to compound as so many people were dying without beds that the nation stagnated and began to decline. It once came to a point where there were ten or so separate Representatives for the miners, farmers, and guards. Future Prime Minister 522 was the only surviving Representative since at this time all the Librarians did was organize the “Living Board” (a board that says if you are alive dead or missing in action) thanks to the free time guaranteed by this job 522 began organizing the nation forcing safety measures. As the nation advanced players began making a storage room the 522 noticed and called a meeting of representatives and the librarians were given authority over storage to prevent stealing. It is believed that there were about thirty miners that were sent into the mine to advance the nation eventually the meat grinder allowed 657 to come out of the mines with half a stack of iron. 657 was declared a hero by 522 and given a full set of iron gear. 657 was severely damaged and we had leveled our healer so the iron gear was useless. It is considered 522’s biggest mistake to have given 657 a full set of gear instead of mass producing shields and pickaxes.

After this the session was nearly over and 522 called a meeting where we said we needed a strong direction and head of state to expedite progress. After 522 voted for the builder Representative 141 through unanimous vote 522 was elected as Prine Minister.

Session 4
The overall projects of Session 3 were continued.
522 was approached by a new spawn whose number was forgotten he declared that “I have no reason to live,” after this 522 excitedly gave him a wooden sword and told him to find leather he then brought over a mooshroom cow, serving as a pivotal moment in the Sunfish Syndicate's history, as from now on food was no longer a concern.
To keep the farmers, miners, and general populace safe at night, the builders made a plan to improve the mainland walls, and make the currently mob-breakable floor safe, by laying stone bricks underneath. After the plan was proposed to 522 he forced the miners to help with leveling the area inside of the old wall, thus bringing it to one unified y-level. Using old stone shovels made by Blacksmith Representative 933 the supply was so large that still half of it hasn’t been used. The farmers were included, and asked to clear the crop fields, and then have them rebuilt later, after the bricks had been laid. This plan was approved by the prime minister. As of the end of Session 4, 70% of the mainland has been made safe.

Economy

Classes are organised into Guilds each with its own leader, called the Guild Representative. The professions are currently distributed as follows:

  • 2 Healers (807, 143,)
  • 5 Farmers (922, REP 331, 660, 923, 414, 494)
  • 3 Builders (796, 740, 421, REP 190, 141)
  • 3 Guards (752, 225, 982)
  • 2 Blacksmiths (933, 664)
  • 8 Miners
  • 2 Librarian (PM 522, 486)

While each Guild has their own small hall, the librarians are quartered in the main storage room. Their job is, to hand out items if requested, and keep the storage room sorted. Their job is also to keep the job/notice board up to date, and to let no one other than librarians and Guild Representatives into the main storage room.

Government

The government was originally started by player 646, who kept track what classes players were. The government was later improved by player 628, who declared that the different classes should form small groups led by a representative. This way communication was easier without everyone talking over each other. Now each guild has a Guild Representative that the members can communicate their problems and suggestions to. It would then be the Guild Representative's duty to deal with their issues and organise their members into meaningful work, to aid the entire nation. The Council of Guild Representatives (The Council) elected the player 522 as Prime Minister (PM) to act as head of state to quicken progress and improve the effectiveness of internal nation meetings.

Foreign affairs

Sunfish was marched on by Nowy Madagaskar with an army of about 15 after a trespassing member was threatened. The Dwarven Republic also came to act as peacekeepers.

After the Prime Minister was attacked by the Dwarves and a farmer was killed as well as several beds destroyed everyone left after the Madagaskans demanded leather. Also, the stable food supply the Sunfish Syndicate had, a Mooshroom Cow, was killed during this event.

The Sunfish no longer consider the Dwarves an ally and are confused about Nowy Madagaskar. Prime Minister 522 is noted of saying (in reference to Nowy Madagaskar) “They’re pretty chill.”

Military

The Sunfish Syndicate‘s guard is led by 523 whom has recruited four men. The guard is mostly devoted to protecting miners, the prime minister in a fit of rage after almost dying in an audit of the mines said “I swear on all that is fucking holy I want all of you together right now the guards can not leave the miners and the miners will not leave the guards I want iron and I want it now, Now go the fuck back in there now.”

Guards aren’t allowed on the surface with exemption of their representative without explicit permission.
