History
Two players stopped at the jungle river to collect melons, and started tilling land for farms. A larger group of migrants showed up and people started working together and assigning roles. Each night the players would climb the tall trees and wait for the night to end, praising the return of the sun. Each morning people would die to mobs as they tried to climb back down and resume work.
This poor jungle village was not easy to find, so many members of the original group never returned after their deaths. this led to a slow and painful process where people would die and be replaced with new people. The village was in a better spot at the end of session 1B, but had a food shortage due to farmer deaths.
By the end of session 2B, Cannabis village has stabilized. Many lost members have returned, and the population has grown a little. There is no longer a food shortage, and the village has started to accept new members, being able to support a larger population.
Economy
Early in its history, economy mostly focussed on fishing from treetops during nighttime, and collecting resources during the day. Due to the limited size of the settlement, the inhabitants share resources and work together to fund projects. Further down the line, a wheat and sugarcane farm along with some animal pens were established on the treetops where most inhabitants spent the night. A squadron of miners was designated to gather materials during the day, which quickly proved very successful. Due to a high degree of organization, most inhabitants were staffed out relatively quickly. In the latter half of the trial miners and healers swiftly reached high levels, and good equipment was readily available.
Government
For the first half of the Event, there was no need for any political organization as membership became relatively stable and members knew each other well enough. When, during the latter half of the Event, political tasks began to arise, it was decided to create a coucil which would make the most important decisions about foreign relations and defence. This council had mostly informal authority, no clear realm of authority was established. The members of this council were:
- 314 (X)
- 319 (Otter)
- 442 (Wizard)
- 352 (Shim)
- 434 (Knight)
- 632 (Clown)
- 33 (33)
Foreign affairs
Cannabis Village was relatively isolated for the first few sessions. The first engagement with other civilizations was with a delegation from Riverhold, who petitioned Cannabis to join the Ophelion League. This included primarily a defensive alliance, although the opportunity for further cooperation was teased. The inhabitants of Cannabis Village accepted this, shortly after which they were approached by the Eastern Wall with a similar proposal on joining their organization. Seeing no problem with either group, the residents agreed to establish diplomatic relations and cooperate with both. Primary diplomats on behalf of Cannabis Village were 434 (Knight) and 632 (Clown).
Military
Cannabis Village's military force consisted of a militia of regular citizens, well equipped and skilled in their respective fields. In the aftermath of the crusader raids, the treetop base was also reinforced into a nigh impenetrable fortress.
Culture
Before Cannabis Village was called Cannabis village, the residents would call themselves "Jungle um treetop uh canopy uh sun river people" The part about the sun referred to an old ritual where they greeted the sun as a friend at each dawn. This name was considered impractical, and so it was decided that since canopy sounds similar to cannabis, this was to be the new name of the village.
Banner
Although the Village never had an official banner, plain brown banners were commonly used to represent them.
